Autori in città is a non-profit association based in Padua with a great passion for picture books. We believe in the value of illustration culture — for young people, adults, and professionals who use it in specific contexts with more vulnerable groups.
We organize exhibitions, events, and workshops all year long in our city and beyond. We support independent bookstores by collaborating with them on various projects, and we also run a large, city-wide festival in Padua every second weekend of September, named after the Association itself: Autori in città. Et voilà!

We believe that illustrated storytelling can also be a social tool, a way to explore complex topics that are part of our lives. Stories — whether told with words or drawn in images — connect us universally, beyond language and cultural barriers. Through this exchange, we learn to understand ourselves and others, building more open, empathetic, and creative communities. Creating and sharing stories is not just an artistic act: it’s a human journey that drives us to explore, innovate, and grow together.
